ROSEAU – Since their arrival in Dominica on Tuesday the Contingent from the Royal Montserrat Defence force have been engaged and kept busy with the various tasks assigned to them by CDEMA as part of the overall Montserrat/DFID/UK Aid package of assistance to Dominica.
On, Thursday September 3rd, 2015, a unit from the RMDF contingent was deployed to one of the most devastated areas called Petite Savanne to relieve security forces who were on duty there. Petite Savanne is one of the areas that sustained tremendous damage from water and landslides and most of the 700 villagers have been evacuated however reports have indicated that 19 known persons remain unwilling to move.
The RMDF team is heading to the area along with local SSU police and RSS personnel to perform security duties to protect property and persons from the criminal element. This unit headed by Corporal Semper of the RMDF is expected to be stationed in Petite Savanne until Sunday when they would be relieved.
The unit was
